The Couchpotatoes I had no clue what I was going to watch other than the title of the movie. I thought it was going to be a horror movie but as soon as I saw Marlon Wayans' face I knew it was going to be a comedy. I'm not a big fan of Marlon Wayans so I was expecting a lame movie. But to be honest I found myself laughing quite a lot. Sure there are lame parts in this movie but the funny parts are really worth watching. It's a parody of Paranormal Activity and The Exorcist combined. I know a lot of people are going to hate this movie but there will be also a lot of people that will like it. Don't watch it to see a nice story because it's a parody, they just make fun of horror movies. To me the best parts were the ones with Cedric the Entertainer in it. So if you want to chill out and have a couple good laughs A Haunted House will do the job.
worlddestroyerlarom This movie is simply not funny. I watched the whole thing without harming my face muscles. I am really surprised that some people liked and considered it to be funny. Problem with A Haunted House is that it fails in every aspect. Marlon Wayans tries to be funny, but the script is too awful. Smoking weed with a ghost can't make people laugh, but it can make you think that writer was high when writing this. Director apparently saw the Paranormal Activity and decided it would be good idea to make a movie which makes no sense. Some say it's supposed to be like that and I know it's the same genre as Scary Movie but this one isn't funny. I watched the trailer and can say that it contains only funny moments in the movie, so go and watch the trailer, there's nothing more to see.
bowmanblue Oh, dear - how best to describe 'A Haunted House'... it's the sort of unofficial sequel to the first couple of 'Scary Movie' films, only the people who made the first two didn't return for the next ten (or however many sequels they've made by the time you read this). So, instead of having anything to do with the parody of 'Paranormal Activity' which is basically what 'Scary Movie 5' is based on, Marlon Wayans, is doing his own spoof. If you've actually seen Scary Movie 5 before you've watched this... then I wouldn't bother. Both parody Paranormal Activity and use the same 'slapstick formula' jokes. A Haunted House uses a little more 'risky' humour, but it's primarily people tripping over or getting up to sexual shenanigans. But is it funny? Well, it's about as funny as any fifth movie in a comedy franchise (even though it's technically not part of the Scary Movie franchise, you could be mistaken for thinking it is). Was Police Academy 5 as funny as the first? If you're thinking of watching this, you'll get a couple of laughs and smirks here and there, but it's not great. If you like horror parodies, stick with the first Scary Movie. Since then it's been pretty hit and miss from there on. It might keep you amused if you found it on TV late at night and were slightly tipsy.http://thewrongtreemoviereviews.blogspot.co.uk/
John Waclawski Good movie spoof on the "Paranormal Activity" series. Borderline "blaxpotation" but c'mon...it's Marlon Wayans...of the Wayans family!! They don't care and that's what makes it funnier! (See "I'm gonna git you sucka") A random few lull times but most of the time I caught myself rewinding a scene because I was laughing at the previous scene and missed it. Or rewinding to watch it again just because it was that funny. I gave it only 7 out of 10 because there were a few scenes that I felt were overacted or not scripted well or could have been left out all together. Cedric the Entertainer added a lot of humor to the movie & quite honestly his lines did not seem scripted...as if he was talking from experience. That is good acting in my opinion! If you are easily offended by racial humor, this movie is not for you.
