Song Mi Do, a recent high school graduate moves close by to Shi Tian University for the summer with the parents because her mother wishes for her to go to school there, instead of pursuing her dream of becoming a writer. At the new house Mi Do meets up with her childhood friend Li Yi You, who’s wealthy family is known in the area. Yi You takes Mi Do to visit Shi Tian, but she has the campus angry at her for talking smack about Xi Song, the campus idol pianist.

Mi Do learns of her drunken shenanigans and resolves everything with her neighbour. However, she learns his identity as Xi Song through Xiao Mi we she takes him to his music class where he is a student teacher. Unfortunately when Yi You arrives at the class they she is recognized as not a student and get into trouble from the school, where she leaves her notebook full of her stories. Meanwhile, Xi Song insomnia didn’t affect him last night, so he gets his manager Laing Ge to come over and sleep beside him just like Mi Do in hopes that his problems will be solved. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work. So when Mi Do comes over to his place again because she believes he has her notebook, and takes this opportunity to have her over.

Xi Song tries to blackmail Mi Do by saying she broken a hand-crafted glass that will cost her 50,000 yuan unless she sleeps beside him again. Mi Do refuses and tries to borrow money from her friends in order to pay, but to no avail. When she meets Xi Song during her attempt to get money from Yi You, she tries another tactic a sucking up to him in hopes he will forfeit, but it just ends up costing her all the money she did get through buying lunch and travelling to the beach. Her last strategies of gaining Xi Song sympathy doesn’t work either, and she discovers that it isn’t the money he really wants, but for her to sleep beside him.

On their way home from the beach, Mi Do becomes paranoid that everyone they cross paths with will recognize Xi Song, and cause her trouble. Other like Aunt Gu and his manager Laing Ge are also worried about his reputation if it is know about them sleeping together, but he doesn’t seem concerned and only focused on curing this insomnia. Unfortunately Mi Do is not able to get the money in time so she ends up sleeping in Xi Song bed for the night as or their agreement. She takes extra precautions like wearing extra clothes to bed and bringing her own sheets, but is unnecessary because Xi Song keeps to his word and doesn’t try anything. The next morning when Xi Song is able to sleep through the night again with her, he explains his situation in order to get her to sleep with him regularly and even offer to pay her, but she does not agree. Laing Ge ends up coming over that morning and has Mi Do’s notebook with her romance book she is writing which Xi Song takes in with to use it later.

Laing Ge came over to Xi Song ‘s house to bring him to a meeting they have with Director Wang for a charity show that Xi Song will be on at a local cafe. Mi Do also so happens to be there, as she is meeting Xiao Mi’s boyfriend for the first time, where Xiao Mi came to her house to learn how to bake a cake from Mi Do’s mother. However, when she arrives she learns that Xiao Mi’s boyfriend already has a girlfriend, so she stands up for her friend and confronts him.

Mi Do’s parents become concerned about her when she is still upset about the situation with Xiao Mi, thinking this is over a boy. Her father has Yi You come to cheer her up, and he gets her the idea to start a new novel during the holiday. Mi Do decides to take her inspiration from Xi Song and base the hero on him. She starts following him around to understand his personality where he ends up catching her. She uses her notebook as an excuse to why she is following him when he catches her and finally agrees to his deal of sleeping over at his place for half a month. On her first night she watches play the piano before they fall asleep and is amazed by his ability. When they are interrupted by his father calling, she overhears Xi Song mention that his ‘girlfriend’ is over.

Turns out Xi Song knew she was following him, and actually enjoyed it, he got so curious that he read her novel. After the ‘girlfriend’ comment she overheard from Xi Song, their time together increases and they get to know each other, Mi Do starts to develop feeling for Xi Song and end up liking him. They get set into such a routine that Mi Do starts bringing her stuff over and making the bedroom both of theirs instead of just his. During this time, Mi Do’s parents go over to the neighbours house where they introduce themselves to Aunt Gu who they believe owns the house, and Aunt Gu and Mi Do’s mother upend up having a bad impression of each other. Also Xiao Mi finally puts to rest with the guys she was ‘dating’ and gets closure form that relationship and responds back to Mi Do. As their arrangement is coming to an end, unknowingly Mi Do’s parents arrange a camping trip, but Mi Do fakes an illness so she can still go over to Xi Song’s house.

It is the last night of their arrangement, which has Mi Do a little down because this will sever their ties. But things turn hopeful when Aunt Gu catches Mi Do and Xi Song actually stands up for her, as well, he seems to be accepting she she confesses that she wants to see him every day. However, her hopes are dashed when she goes over the next day to get her things, and hears Xi Song and Laing Ge-who rushed over when he heard from Aunt Ge- part of the conversation stating he doesn’t have any use for her anymore, even though he was standing up for her earlier and only saying this to calm down Laing Ge.

Mi Do finally finds Xiao Mi and they finally make up, during their talk Mi Do confesses how she has admired her for so long, that they make up. They end up going to a karaoke bar with Yi You, where they notice that she seems to be seem to be letting out her emotions, and getting drunk. On her way home she runs into Xi Song who seems to have hurt his hand from fighting with the students that bothered her at the school, unknowning to her at the time. In order to protect her, he doesn't want her at the school anymore or to get drunk, but says it the wrong way and she takes it as he doesn't want her bothering him. So she reassures him that she will leave him alone, which actually just disheartens him.

Xiao Mi comes over to Mi Do's house now that they have made up, and eat cake that Mi Do was suppose to bring over the the neighbour as a peace offering. But refuses because she believes Xi Song knows the plan to get kicked out of the neighbourhood. Xiao Mi discovers that Xi Song is Mi Do's neighbour and that she has a crush on Xi Song. When Mi Do mentions to Xi Song about the problems Liang Ge is causing, it troubles him extremely. With Mi Do's perservance, Liang Ge uses another tactic by mentioning that ghosts live in her house. Though she knows it is a ploy, she still becomes terrified when she ends up alone at home for the night. Mi Do is by herself because her parents (especially her mother who is fan president) are extreme fans of Xi Song, and they are going to one of his performances.

Mi Dostays the night at Xi Song's house, but is oblivious to why he won't share the bed, though they did before. Aunt Gu is surprised to see Mi Do back when she though she finally got rid of her. Xiao Mi is surprised about finding Mi Do at Xi Song's house so early in the morning, so Mi Do tells her everything. Xiao Mi comes up with a plan to test if Xi Song's feelings, but the outcomes inconclusive. Xiao Mi believes that Xi Song like her, but she is uncertain. Laing Ge gets annoyed by their efforts, and tells her about the trouble she caused at Shi Tian. She starts to feel guilty about ruining Xi Song's reputation, however, her feeling are encouraged when Xi Song takes care of her. Own their way home, they meet up with Yi You who, gets very jealous because he likes Mi Do, and tries to get the truth out of her. Heeven discourages her thoughts that he might like her, though Yi You can tells that Xi Song likes her by the way he looks at her.

Xi Song suddenly falls sick, Mi Do tries to comes over to takes care of him, but it thwarted by her parents. She sends him letters over their back patios and see if she can help him, which he ends up giving her a key to his place. When Aunt Gu finds Mi Do use the key, she is angered and upset when Mi Do sort of takes over her job. Mi Do's birthday is coming up, and her parents almost forgot so they plan a part with Mi Do's friends. Yi You searches for a gift when he is given the suggestion by somone believing he is looking for a gift for his girlfriend to give her a ring. Meanwhile, Mi Do is happily taking care of Xi Song, she is pulled away just when she thought she would be confessed to by Xi Song. Xiao Mi interrupts this and gives her the idea to ask him to her birthday celebration saying it would prove that he has feeling for her. Before she gone back to his place she gathers her courage and admits that it is her dream to be together with him.

Mi arrives at Xi Song’s place, and they settle in by sitting down and reading. They end up getting into a discussion about love and relationship where Xi Song admits that if his partner interred in his career he would break up. This saddens Mi Do since she believes if you truly love someone then you should do everything to make it work. She gets even more disheartened when she through the week she tries to invite Xi Song t o her birthday party but he says he is busy that day and she believes it is an excuse to not go. However, she doesn’t let this get her down, and she learns that he actually has an award ceremony to go to, and he wishes her a Happy birthday when he discovers that is why she wanted him to come. She enjoys her special day with her parents and friends, but Yi You feels a little left out when everyone seems to be paying attention to the award ceremony where Xi Song wins an award ( especially since Mi Do rejected his ring that was his gift to her.)

Whiling walking with her friends and parents on her birthday a crowd comes rushing screaming Xi Song,. mi Do becomes immediately excited and follows where Xi Song grabs her hands and runs off. Mi Do is extremely happy that Xi Song became early to spend her birthday with her and even kisses her. This does not happen for long though as when she makes it home after her parents worrying where she was, she rides to get Xi Song’s attention out on the back patio, and that is where she meets Su Li, Xi Song’s best friend. This upsets her even further when she notices that she stays the night, and has her start to believe the rumour of them being a couple-even her parents believe they make a good couple-to be true, and that the kiss was only a gift and not to show how he feels.

Mi Do has trouble sleeping after realizing the Su Li will be staying over at Xi Song’s. Even the next morning the is constantly contemplating whether to just go over there. She ends up meeting Su Li who is stuck outside which Mi Do uses her key to let them in. While waiting the the guys to get home, Su Li talks to Mi Do and she gets more depressed about how close the two are. So when she finds out that they are going of the trip together with Aunt Gu and Laing Ge she invites herself to come along. Her plans to stay close by XiSong’s side are thwarted consistently by both Aunt Gu and Liang Ge. They take it so far as Aunt Gu telling Mi Do that Xi Song and Su Li are betrothed to each other. But Xi Song refusal when asked by Mi Do puts her in a better mood but not completely as she still worries because of how close Su Li is with Xi Song.

Su Li believing all of Xi Song's dating preparation are for her, she starts to believe that he actually reciprocates her feelings. However, she starts to question this when Mi Do gets lost and Xi Song as a way to find her states her as his girlfriend over the announcement speaker. After they find each other ther, Mi Do calls her parents and says she went on a trip with Xiao Mi, which Xiao Mi agrees to help out. But her parents are suspicious and wonder if Mi Do is secretly dating someone. Though it bounces back between Su Li or Mi Do to who he really likes.

Mi Do and Xi Song becomes closer during their walk along the board walk, that they end up staying out all night. They even discuss her first choice as school is Literature Course at Nuo Hua, and second choice is Music Educator Course at Shi Tian. Su Li tries to show a good front, nd not let it show that their relationship bother, but it gets too much when they end up snuggling together when they sleep on the way back to Qiu Ting. Liang Ge tries to console her, but she even admits the Xi Song is different with her. Before they make it home, Yi You discovers Mi Do actually went with Xi Song and not Xiao Mi when he catches her with her new boyfriend.

Mi Do's mother tarts to suspect that the girl in a photos with Xi Song might be her daughter. Though she tries to investigate she comes up empty. During this, Mi Do's father takes Yi You out for drinks, and they both end up getting drunk. When Yi You starts to makes a slight scene in front of their house, where for the first time, Mi Do's parents learn that their neighbour is Xi Song, and her actually looks close to their daughter. Being such a fan, Mi Do's mother ends up fainting, but Mi Do believes she fainted because she realized that she was dating, and has no idea that her mother is a huge Xi Song fan.

Xi Song ends up meeting a person of the past that knew his ex-girlfriend. Though she is doing alright now he is advised on what went wrong in his past relationship, and takes this advice to learn from it with Mi Do. Mi Do's mother gets ready to have Xi Song come visit and gets all dolled up for her idol. However, he is currently away and has to deal with Aunt Gu, who now that they know each other's significance they 'try' to be polite to each other. Though Mi Do never admits it, her mother suspects her of dating Xi Song, so she grabs her husband and starts snooping on Mi Do and her friends. To her joy, she finds out that Mi Do is dating her idol. Unfortunately Yi You is devastated about this relationship being true, especially with her strength and conviction of her feelings for Xi Song. Realizing his feeling will not be reciprocated, decides to say goodbye to his feelings and support her. Meanwhile, Su Li who is touring with Xi Song devises a plan to break up Mi Do and Xi Song.

News spreads worldwide that Su Li and Xi Song got married. Mi Do's loved ones try to protect her from seeing this news, and her mother stands up for her daughter mentioning on a forum that Mi Do is dating Xi Song. However, it is too late she has already seen the news. She keeps on a brave front until rumors about her having an 'affair' with Xi Song comes and strangers on the street end up fighting with Mi Do.

Before he made it back home, he properly discussed their relationship with Su Li and said his goodbyes to her. Now home and the reporter all gone, he sits down with Mi Do's parents and admits his feeling for Mi Do. Mi Do's mom goes overboard with this news and gives Mi Do a makeover in order to match Xi Song, and tries to train her in a future wife role. Su Li makes it back to Qiu Ting surprisingly meets up with Yi You because they both lost the one they loved to another. This is what she needs as it gives her the courage to say goodbye to Xi Song and optimistic in her future without Xi Song in it, so she moves out of his house.

Now that Su Li is no longer an obstacle in their relationship. Mi Do and Xi Song decide to spend almost all their time together and their relationship grows stronger. Xi Song even gets a cellphone, which he detests in order to keep in contact with her. But when he tries to call her, she ignores his calls so he climbs into her room. He ends up having to hide because Mi Do's father barges in and locks the window to prevent them from crossing over to each other's room, thoguh too late. Xi Song ends up staying most of the night in order to make sure her parents have fallen asleep before he can leave downstairs.

Concerned over what he heard from Mi Do, even though he doesn't like their relationship he immediately tells Xi Song about Mi Do's plan for a gap year. Xi Song confronts Mi Do about her decision because he is worried about her not following her dreams, especially since he knows she registered to perform at Shi Tian's welcoming party. This ensues an argument not only between them but also with her parents not wanting her to risk her future. Mi Do and Xi Song leave angry and are not able to make up before he leaves for the Hauster Competition. Surprisingly it is her mother and Aunt Gu that becomes closer during this time of trouble for Mi Do when they originally planned on meeting up for cleaning break the two up. Luckily, it is Mi Do's father that makes Mi Do come to her senses and help her come to the decision to go to Nou Hua and understand Xi Song's point of view.

Mi Do's father is very angry with her when he finds out that she was staying over at Xi Song's place even though he isn't there. Since it is there last day in Qui Ting it is of little matter. Aunt Gu is actually nice to Mi Do's mother and says farewell to them. Before they leave, Mi Do is introduced to Xi Song's father you came to visit to see his son's girlfriend. Even though this happens, Mi Do becomes discouraged when that 3 weeks have passed and now that she is at NouHua university but still no response from Xi Song. Rumours even spread around school that she was dumped, by the newly award winner from the Hauster competition Xi Song.
