When Kazuya Kinoshita, a 20-year-old college student, split up with his girlfriend Mami Nanami, he was left feeling heartbroken and isolated. To ease his anguish, he used an online app to rent a girlfriend called Chizuru Mizuhara, who quickly captured his heart with her winning personality and attractive appearance. However, after discovering negative feedback from Chizuru's previous customers, Kazuya rated her poorly, feeling her amiability was all an act. Chizuru called him out for his hypocrisy, resulting in a heated dispute. Their conversation was abruptly cut short when Kazuya learned his grandmother had been hospitalized and they rushed to her side. Once there, Kazuya's grandmother asked who Chizuru was, and in a desperate plea to save face, Kazuya declared they were a couple. Chizuru was forced into playing along, but with Kazuya still struggling to move on from Mami, it remains to be seen how long their pretense will last.
